Read full description of the books:An outstanding short introduction to the Hellenic God Hermes (and Roman Mercurius, whom the author considers to be one and the same), and His domains. I discovered a few epithets which I didn't know before, and which I'll be adding to my notes about Him.
The poems/prayers are beautiful, and I have taken up the idea of doing a nine day devotional such as this book describes, although I'll have to work out the the details of it a bit more. E.g. the logistics, the things I can or can't do, translate the prayers into Dutch (my mother tongue), and other little things.
In any case, I heartily advise everyone who is interested in Hermes and getting to know Him better, or doing something devotional for Him, to pick up this book.
Read information about the authorI'm a poet, polytheist, theologian and the majority of my writing is religious, of one flavor or another. I've written over twenty books covering a broad range of topics within contemporary Heathenry (Norse/Germanic polytheism), several devotionals (including a couple to Greco-Roman Deities), and I've edited several anthologies. I'm the managing editor of "Walking the Worlds" journal, the first peer reviewed journal focusing on issues of interest to polytheists and I maintain a blog at http://krasskova.wordpress.com. I cause a lot of trouble. LOL.
When I'm not writing (and causing trouble), I'm slogging my way through graduate school, round three. I currently hold a Masters in Religious Studies, worked for six years in a Phd program in Classics and have recently transferred to Medieval Studies. I like the multi-disciplinary approach in this field and eventually, if my brain doesn't just go kaputt, I plan on a PhD in theology.
I'm also an artist - acrylic and watercolor, some photography and I co own Riverwinds Gallery in Beacon, NY. If you're ever in the area, stop by and see me.
Despite rumors to the contrary, I don't bite and I'm usually happy to answer any questions. ;)
